The smartest Mexican striker Javier “Chicharito” Hernández did it again. He scored his first goal for Bayer Leverkusen since he moved to Germany this summer and he became the first Mexican to score Champions League goals with three different clubs: Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Leverkusen.
His goal was the second scored by a Mexican player in Champions League action this week, after Hector Moreno made his debut with an amazing glancing header for PSV Eindhoven, who beat Manchester United 2-1 . Midfielder Miguel Layún also factored into Mexican Champions League success, with an assist for Porto against Dynamo Kyiv on Wednesday.
Finally, Bayer Leverkusen crushed BATE Borisov 4-1 at home in their Champions League opener.
