The Copa América 2024 is finally taking shape. The 16 teams have not yet been decided, with two playoff spots remaining, but the 4 groups have already been drawn and we already know who will play in the inaugural game.
Argentina, the head of Group A, is set to play the Copa América’s first game on June 20th, against either Canada or Trinidad and Tobago. The game will be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. Joining the defending champions in Group A are Peru and Chile, as well as the winner of the playoff between Canada and Trinidad and Tobago.
Group B, meanwhile, has Mexico as the head of the group. Joining the CONCACAF nation are Ecuador, Venezuela, and Jamaica.
Group C sees the USMNT as the head of the group. Joining them are two-time World Cup champions Uruguay, as well as Panama and Bolivia.
The last group, Group D, has 5-time World Cup Champions Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay and the winner of the second playoff between Honduras and Costa Rica.
The 10 COMEBOL teams and 6 CONCACAF teams are set to face off in the 2024 edition of the Copa América, which will be played in the United States. The CONMEBOL teams are Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Venezuela, Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, and Ecuador.
The 4 CONCACAF teams that have qualified so far are the United States, Mexico, Panama, and Jamaica. The two remaining spots will come from two playoff matches to be played in March between Canada and Trinidad and Tobago and Honduras and Costa Rica.
