Cristiano Ronaldo secured a spot among La Liga’s top three all-time goal scorers after striking from the penalty spot in Real Madrid’s 2-0 win over Eibar on Sunday.
It was his 234th goal in league action – tying Hugo Sánchez’s record (poor guy is on the verge of losing long-standing records every week now) and putting him in third place behind Telmo Zarra (251) and Lionel Messi (290).
Similarly to when Cristiano surpassed Raúl as Madrid’s all-time leading goal scorer, he completed his most recent feat in far fewer games than the club legend that came before him. This time, the Portuguese crack reached the 234 mark in 134 fewer games than Sánchez. Give me a break.
Cristiano is also nearing Sánchez’s record for most penalties converted in league history (56 out of 71). His current tally: 48 out of 53. LOLOLOLOL.
On that note, I leave you with this tweet (don’t even try to tell me that Cristiano is the one to blame for Madrid’s most recent woes):
