Quito club Independiente del Valle has decided to donate ticket proceeds to Ecuador earthquake relief for a second time.
100 percent of the revenue generated from Los Negriazules’ first-leg Copa Libertadores quarterfinal game against Pumas – set to be played at the Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa – will be given to relief funds in an admirable display of fútbol’s power for positive change.
Following the devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck the northwestern coast of Ecuador last month, Independiente decided to donate ticket sales from its April 28 match against River Plate equaling $221.40 to earthquake relief. Now, they’re back at it, using their historic Copa Libertadores run for more than just fútbol prowess.
