El Brody Comes Out of Retirement for Trick Fútbol Team ‘Los Cheetahs’

Two of the world’s most neon-loving individuals have teamed up on soccer meets spectacle cross-country tour: Jorge Campos and….Chester Cheetah. Yes. Our first reaction on reading this news was “whaaaa?” but though it’s kind of random, we’re not mad at an opportunity to see El Brody back on the field.

According to a press release, Cheetos-sponsored team the Los Cheetahs team will consist of “insanely talented… trick fútbol players [combining] athleticism, theater and comedy.” We’re not 100% sure what that means, but we’re imagining a combination of traditional gameplay with freestyle maneuvers as they face off against their opponents, a team called Los Jefes. Apparently, audience participation and interaction with the tricks will be encouraged, so whatever these events turn out to be, they definitely won’t be traditional matches.

Campos will be on the roster of goalies, and join the team as they play in select markets throughout 2015, starting with a November 8th match in Long Beach in at a venue the press release describes as an “outrageous, custom-built, over-the-top stadium, right on the beach.”

This could turn out to be the cheesiest of events, but it sounds like that’s what they’re going for. Either way we’re intrigued.
