Keylor Navas is Back and Dí María Should Be Shitting Bricks Right Now

Keylor Navas is back for round two at the Santiago Bernabéu! Real Madrid vs. PSG on Tuesday. Oh yes.

After missing out over the weekend, our favorite Tico guardameta will be back between the posts to try to keep his collective Champions League clean sheet alive (he has yet to concede a single goal in Madrid’s first three group stage matches). Madrid has the best defensive record in La Liga – only conceding four goals in 10 matches so far – and has yet to lose a competitive match since suffering defeat to Juventus in the first leg of last season’s UCL semifinals.

In an interview for UEFA, Navas was asked how he prepares to face the best offenses in Europe, the heavyweights of world fútbol. His response: “I always try to prepare as well as possible for matches. They have top-quality players who can make life difficult for you at any moment, but I try to prepare for every game in the same way: with training and mental preparation.” Is there anything not to love about this guy?

When asked if Real Madrid was ready to win la undécima, Navas went on to say that “winning the trophy [la décima] was massive for the club. We all want to win the Champions League, it’s one of our goals…We’re putting our heart and soul into reaching the final and winning it.”

One beloved ex-madridista knows just how massive the tenth European Cup was for Madrid:

Ángel Di María will look to put in a more decisive performance in front of old home fans tomorrow, perhaps providing the creative spark that PSG needs up the left flank. They’re going to need that extra something… because not only is héroe/ídolo/crack Keylor back, James is in the squad list too. ??
