Here Are the Latino Players Participating in NBA All-Star Weekend 2024

Events for the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend begin on Friday (February 16) and include everything from a Slam Dunk Contest to a basketball game featuring celebrities. The main NBA All-Star Game takes place on Sunday (February 18) where the best ballers in the world will put on a show for NBA fans worldwide.

Two Latino NBA stars will compete in the big game on Sunday – Devin Booker and Karl-Anthony Towns. Booker, who has roots in Mexico and Puerto Rico, is a shooting guard for the Phoenix Suns. He is averaging 28 points, 4.7 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game this season.

Towns, who is half Dominican, is a power forward for the Minnesota Timberwolves. He is averaging 22.7 points, 8.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game this season.

Both Booker and Towns will be representing the Western Conference in the NBA All-Star Game. This is the fourth time both of them have been named to the team in their careers. Towns will also be participating in the NBA Three-Point Contest during All-Star Weekend. This season, he is shooting the three-ball at 43.8 percent, which currently makes him 12th in the league from behind the arc.

Miami Heat rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr., who is Mexican American, will also have a busy All-Star Weekend. He will be participating in both the NBA Slam Dunk Contest and NBA Rising Stars Game, which consists of the NBA’s best young talent.

Competing in this year’s celebrity game is Puerto Rican rapper and singer, Anuel AA. This is the second time he’s played in the celebrity game.

Finally, there will be a separate Slam Dunk Contest for the NBA G-League. Brazilian player Maozinha Pereira from the Mexico City Capitanes will compete in the event.
