We all need a little rest and relaxation. And after the 2021 season, Leylah Annie Fernandez has had, well, she might need it more than ever.

Emotionally, it’s been a lot. The ups and downs of a sport like tennis, where it’s only you against your opponent, no team or coach on the court to support you, can be like that. But physically, this has been the best year of the young phenom’s career. She, after all, started the year ranked No. 88 and has now moved up 62 spots, to number 26.

She also won her first WTA title in 2021, at the Monterrey Open, and during a dream US Open run reached her first Grand Slam final.

The future looks bright for Fernandez’s tennis, but with the season coming to a close, the 19-year-old is taking some time to recharge, with family, at the Amanyara Resort in Turks and Caicos.

Once a tennis player, always a tennis player, though, as Fernandez spent time in the pool but also hit the clay courts at the resort.

“Leylah shared her knowledge and passion for the game of tennis at the Club House, leading clinics for our guests,” the resort shared on Instagram.

If you were lucky enough to get a class or a photo with Leylah Fernandez, we suggest you frame it. She might be taking some well-earned time off now, but come the next tennis season, she’ll be ready to take the tour by storm once again.
