Xavier Restrepo, who is of Colombian descent, is one of the names to watch for the upcoming NFL Draft, which is set to take place April 24 to April 26 in Lambeau Field. The wide receiver for the Miami Hurricanes comes with perhaps the highest stock of all the Latinos who will be showing up at the draft and had a great showing at the NFL Combine a few weeks back–with a total score of 74. But Restrepo didn’t just start being impressive when he hit the Combine, no.

Those who follow college football know that Restrepo has been impressive for a while. Restrepo is considered one of the most solid receivers of his draft class, and someone who should be ready to help a team on day one. He is the Miami Hurricanes’ all-time receiving and touchdown leader. Yes, I said all that. That’s a lot of work he put in over his college career to get there: 200 receptions, 2,844 receiving yards, and 21 touchdowns. Those are pretty impressive numbers for a college career.

Remezcla spoke with Restrepo at this years NFL combine. And when asked by our correspondent Gio Garcia about representing Latinos, he said, “You play for the name on the front of your jersey. The name on the back is very special as well. My whole dad’s side of family is from Colombia. It’s special putting it on.”

Restrepo was a big part of why UM’s offense was good for so long, and he’s unlikely to stay on the board during draft day for long. He is set to be a second, or at worst, high third-round draft pick. There’s been talk that the Patriots are interested in Restrepo, particularly because of his versatility. But they’re unlikely to be the only team with an eye on high.

There are also a lot of people very excited about Restrepo, with social media repeatedly showcasing not just clips of him on the field, but also off-the-field as well:

So keep an eye on Xavier Restrepo, not just on draft day, but on the season to come.
