Mexico’s Hirving Lozano is heading back to PSV Eindhoven. The player, who previously played for PSV from 2017-2019 is fondly remembered by fans of the club, and the numbers back them up. Lozano scored 49 goals in the 79 games he played for the team, and helped PSV to the 2017-18 Eredivisie title. In 2019, Lozano was transferred to Napoli, where he has played for the last 4 years.

Now, he’s coming back “home,” as PSV’s official Twitter tweeted a video and Lozano says alongside his family as they take us through the journey of returning to the club.

Lozano’s Napoli contract was set to extend till 2024, but the Italian club was looking for Lozano to take a pay cut as part of any renewal deal. Lozano said no, which opened the door for a return to his former club.

A couple of months ago, Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentis had been quoted as saying “I don’t think Lozano is a stupid man and when the time comes to meet his new coach and join the team camp, he’ll understand that it’s probably best to extend his contract or that it’s also better to try elsewhere.”

Now, Hirving Lozano is indeed heading elsewhere. And the player, commonly referred to as “Chucky,” won’t just be expected to help his team in the Dutch domestic league. PSV Eindhoven has also qualified for the Champions League, where they’ve been drawn into Group B, and are set to face Sevilla, Arsenal and Lens. The group stages are set to start September 19th.

PSV plays RKC Waalwijk tomorrow at 2:00PM ET.
