Fútbol fans rejoice – according to ODFC News, the biggest rivalry in all of CONCACAF is going down at University of Phoenix Stadium. If true, this will be the second time these teams hold a friendly on this field, with the US besting Mexico there 2-0 in 2007. As both teams are gearing up for Brazil, this will be one of the last chances for fringe players to show-off what they have to offer and secure a spot on their team’s World Cup roster.
Take this all with a grain of salt, though: while fan sites seem pretty sure this is what’s going down, a USSF spokesperson told MLSsoccer.com that they “are in discussions about a match in April, but at this point have not locked in a date or location.”
Start getting together your jerseys and your face paint now – reports are that the game will be played on April 2nd.
