That Neymar’s Netflix documentary is titled Neymar: The Perfect Chaos makes a lot of sense, because, as the trailer itself admits, there’s a lot about Neymar that elicits strong emotions. And they’re not all positive. The Brazilian star is an idol to many, but a controversial figure to some, as well.
His attitude in the field, and his successes, are at the root of this dichotomy. Neymar is a player that puts it all on the field, and sometimes that translates to the kind of emotional reactions fans – and other players – find hard to understand. From exaggerating injury to gain an advantage to losing his cool, Neymar is perhaps about as well known for his histrionics than his play.
But the new Netflix documentary is looking to change that, or at least, provide more background into who Neymar is, so perhaps fans can then understand why he reacts the way he does in specific situations.
The three-part docuseries, which will be available to stream on January 25th, tracks Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior’s rise to fame at Santos, his days at FC Barcelona, and his time with the Brazilian National team, as well as current team, Paris Saint-Germain. It’s set to feature interviews with football greats Beckham, Messi, and Mbappé, among others, as they discuss Neymar’s play, his character, and almost as importantly, his place in sports history.
