It seems F1, Bad Bunny, and Puerto Rico go hand in hand.

Over 9,000 people gathered on San Juan’s iconic Puente Dos Hermanos on Saturday, August 2, to witness Puerto Rico’s first-ever Formula 1 demo run. The event was a collaboration between Bad Bunny, adidas Originals, and Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS’ F1 Team, and the first time a Formula 1 car had ever raced on Puerto Rican soil.

Mercedes F1 driver Esteban Gutiérrez, originally from Mexico, led a sequence of burnouts and stunts across the bridge, and later, at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico, aka El Choli, fans attended a curated exhibit of historical racing gear from the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS archives, including authentic race suits, gloves, and boots.

The activation was timed with Bad Bunny’s sold-out 30-date concert residency in his native Puerto Rico, titled No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí (I Don’t Want To Leave Here).

He has also recently branched out into acting under the name “Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio,” and will appear in the upcoming film Caught Stealing alongside Austin Butler and Zoë Kravitz. The movie hits theaters on August 29.

This moment in Puerto Rico marked the official celebration of Bad Bunny as an honorary member of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS team and a new product launch with adidas Originals.

When it comes to F1 news in general, Lando Norris won the latest F1 Grand Prix, which took place in Hungary on August 3rd. F1 will now pause for a summer break and return on August 31st for the Dutch Grand Prix.
