Ya es oficial. The Steelers will play the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road. But where? Places like Montreal, Barcelona, London and Tokyo have been home to exhibition games in the past. But, it’s been years since this team competed directly south of the border. This year, the Pittsburgh Steelers have their eyes set on Mexico.

“We continue to raise our hand and say we’re interested in playing a game in Mexico,” team president Art Rooney told local reporters, according to NBC.

The NFL’s 2020 dates and locations for its international series are not yet public. But the Steelers are hopeful about playing on new neutral ground in 2020.

Steeler Nation, as their fans call themselves, bleed black and gold in Mexico. “My heart and soul are yellow and black, but my passion and pride are made of steel,” a passionate Mexican fan told SB Nation in 2015.

The official schedule for away games will drop this spring. For now, one can only dream.

“Our first choice would be to play a game in Mexico if we have an international trip,” Rooney said. “We have to work out the logistics and all the pieces of the puzzle to go into place to have a game down there.”
