Though women like Marta and Lady Andrade have proven to be elite talents on the soccer field, they still don’t get the worldwide recognition that futbolistas like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo get. Last week, a video for El Hormiguero aimed to prove how nonsensical this is, and that, as Obama said, “‘playing like a girl’ means you’re a badass.” With a wig, makeup, and facial hair, they transformed professional soccer player Brenda Pérez into “Dani Pérez”, and they had her play some unsuspecting men in a pickup game.

She busted out roulettes and other skills, as they just watched on. Before she took a free kick, she took off all her Dani gear, and revealed that she was a woman all along.

¿Es el fútbol un deporte sólo de chicos? Hombres y mujeres con un balón en los pies pueden dar el mismo espectáculo.

Some have criticized the video and said it’s clearly fake. But real or not, she can obviously play.
