Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr., the 2023 NL MVP, is now the first Major League Baseball player to become the face of Nike underwear. The Venezuelan player, who also won the Rookie of the Year Award in 2018 and whose 2023 season was one of the most dominant individual seasons in MLB history, is set to be the centerpiece of the brand’s highly anticipated Spring 2025 (SP25) campaign.

This is an important moment for both Nike and baseball. The brand has previously featured elite athletes from other sports in its underwear campaigns, including Portuguese fútbol star Rúben Dias, Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert, and Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray. Now, Acuña Jr. joins this lineup and is set to raise not just his profile but that of the sport he represents.

Acuña shared pictures from the campaign on his Instagram with the caption, “When you are comfortable, you are confident. #nikeunderwear #teamnike @nike @nikediamond.” There’s no information yet if he’ll be debuting any new styles. But from the photos above he seems to be wearing the white version of the Nike Dri-FIT Ultra Comfort men’s boxer briefs.

Coming off a big injury that sidelined him for most of the 2024 season, Acuña Jr. is looking for vindication—and considering the numbers he’s put up in his young career, it’s hard to count him out. He’s earned four All-Star selections, three Silver Slugger Awards, and twice led the league in stolen bases.  Not just that, in 2023, he became just the fifth player in history to join the 40-40 club—hitting at least 40 home runs and stealing 40 bases in a single season.

The Braves outfield is represented by Rimas Sports, a partnership between superstar Bad Bunny and executives Noah Assad and Jonathan Miranda, which means he’s likely to keep on growing beyond the field as well. So, if you don’t know Ronald Acuña Jr’s name now, it might just be time to learn it. He’s about to be everywhere, and for good reasons.
