After scoring a dramatic goal in overtime to ensure Croatia’s first-ever trip to a World Cup final, you could forgive Mario Mandzukic and his teammates for letting their exuberance get the best of them. During its celebration, the players accidentally bowled over a photographer on the sidelines. At the time, we only saw a man on the floor continuing to snap photos – a feat that impressed people – but now we know that the guy behind the lens was Yuri Cortez, the Salvadoran chief photographer for AFP Mexico.
The video shows that the players are immediately apologetic, with Domagoj Vida giving him a smooch on his forehead. Ivan Rakitić also took the time to check on him. It didn’t take long for Yuri to become part of their celebration.
