Manchester United is always going to be the club that’s trying to steal your favorite player, isn’t it? Cristiano Ronaldo rumors. Sergio Ramos speculations. Neymar is the most recent addition to the list of cracks connected to the Red Devils, and he’s even admitted to preliminary contract negotiations with the club this past summer.
The Barcelona forward and Brazilian international told ESPN Brasil that there were conversations happening “but there was nothing concrete.” He stated that while there were offers, none of them made their way to him directly and no agreement was reached. In all honesty, the fact that Neymar’s agent Pini Zahavi traveled all the way to Old Trafford to watch United pull of a thrilling 0-0 draw against Newcastle United at the end of August probably had something to do with it…(On a more serious note, Neymar’s contract apparently has some pretty tricky clauses).
With more time to hash out the details of a potential contract, we could maybe see the superstar make the move to Manchester next summer. After all, Wayne Rooney isn’t getting any younger, and what’s not to love about becoming the lone shining star in an historic club’s attack versus continuing on as one point in a three-pronged offense? Neymar is dreaming of a Ballon D’Or – he’s currently second behind Messi with 28 goals in all competitions for Barcelona in 2015 – maybe an eventual move of this nature is just what he needs to make it happen.
