Late NBA superstar Kobe Bryant has new sneakers coming into the market. On August 23, 2023, which would’ve been Kobe’s 45th birthday, the Kobe 8 Protro “Halo” will be available for purchase. The all-white sneakers were designed by Kobe’s widow, Vanessa Bryant.

“This will be one of many Kobe 8 ‘Halo’ styles coming soon,” Vanessa wrote on social media along with the drop date.

Nike teased the sneakers last week, referring to the shoe as “iconic footwear.”

The “Halo” is an updated version of Kobe’s eighth signature shoe, which was first revealed in 2012. According to Nike, Vanessa “imagined and created the Halo shoe concept and launch as a way to honor Kobe’s birthday each year.”

This is the second shoe released from the Kobe line since his estate signed a new long-term contract with Nike after the last one expired two years ago.

“We’re excited to announce our partnership with Nike is going to continue!” Vanessa wrote on social media after the new deal was made. “I am so proud that my husband’s shoes are still the most worn by players on NBA courts and that the demand for his shoes remains so desired by his fans around the world.”

The first shoes to hit the market after the new deal was made were the Kobe 4 Protro “Mamabacitas,” which were released in May 2023 in honor of Kobe and Vanessa’s late daughter, Gianna. Kobe, Gianna and seven other people were killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, on January 26, 2020.

The retail price for the Kobe Bryant “Halos” is $80 for kid’s sizes and $180 for men’s sizes.
