Vozinha Joining This Chilean Club After World Cup Stardom

Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha, a breakout star during the FIFA 2026 World Cup, has found his next club: Chile’s Colo-Colo. He arrives at the Chilean club after two seasons in the Portuguese second division side Chaves.
Colo-Colo’s president Anibal Mosa confirmed the news to local media ahead of his sclub’s domestic league match against Deportes Limache: “We can confirm Vozinha will be a Colo-Colo player.” He also added, “We have an agreement; the final details are being ironed out, but we already have confirmation from his entourage and his representative. We reached an agreement based on a proposal that we submitted.”
The official Instagram for Colo-Colo also shared the news with a photo teasing Vozinha with the words “AURA” above a photo of him.
It’s a big time signing for Colo-Colo, particularly considering the amount of social media traction the goalkeeper has gained since he debuted in the FIFA World Cup as the Man of the Match in a 0-0 draw against Spain. Before the match Vozinha had approximately 50k Instagram followers. Now he’s approaching 30 million.
He led his country to the knockout stages in their first ever World Cup participation, with the team being eliminated in agonic fashion by eventual finalist Argentina. He made seven saves in that match. Vozinha was the starting goalkeeper in all four of Cape Verde’s matches in the World Cup.
Before Colo-Colo, Vozinha played in Cape Verde, Moldova, Slovakia and Cyprus and broke records by becoming the oldest player to make an appearance in a nation’s debut World Cup game at the age of 40 years and 12 days old.
Colo-Colo, officially Club Social y Deportivo Colo-Colo, is based out of Santiago and it competes in the Chilean Primera División. They’ve won 34 Primera División de Chile titles, more than any other Chilean club and a record fourteen Copa Chile titles. Colo-Colo was also the Chilean team to win a continental tournament, winning the 1991 Copa Libertadores.
