Harry Styles is a global phenomenon. So is Lionel Messi. And with the FIFA World Cup going on in Qatar right now, even Styles has to pay tribute to Messi, and people’s love for him. Especially while in Buenos Aires.

Argentina beat Australia 4-1 to advance to the quarterfinals of the World Cup on Saturday, December 3rd. Styles was set to play in Buenos Aires’ Estadio Monumental that very same night. The doors to the venue were open, and fans were already in the stadium, ready to see their favorite singer perform. But with their national team playing, and in a country where fútbol often comes first, second and third, it was no surprise that the game was played on the big screens in the stadium.

Then, came Messi’s goal, which put the team ahead. It was a big moment for fans of Argentina, and also for Styles, who ran onto the stage to celebrate alongside the crowd. Styles might be British, but it seems like in this World Cup, the entire world is a little bit Argentinian – or at least, a Messi fan.

But that wasn’t all, Styles then got the crowd to cheer for Messi during the actual concert.

Winning over a crowd is probably easy for a performer like Styles, but praising Argentina’s hero was a very good place to start while in a packed stadium that has seen a lot of Messi magic in the past few years. And as Argentina moves on in the World Cup, they’ll have another, high-profile fan, rooting for them. Unless they play England, that is. Harry Styles might have a harder time rooting for Lionel Messi then.
