Mexico fans were celebrating Sunday night (July 16) after their country’s exciting 1-0 victory over Panama to take the CONCACAF Gold Cup for a record ninth time.

During the 88th minute of the contest, Mexico’s Santiago Giménez, who was born in Argentina, scored Mexico’s only goal after outrunning Panama’s players from center circle and kicking it sharply past Panama’s goalkeeper to seal the victory.

Giménez’s goal looked beautiful from every angle in the stadium.

“CAMPEEEOOONNEEEEESSS!!!” Giménez wrote on social media after the match. “VIVA MEXICO CABRONES!!”

Fans mirrored Giménez’s excitement online and posted their own thoughts on Mexico winning the match, which included a lot of deep emotions.

There was no question what Mexicans wanted to do right after their team won the Cup.

There was a lot of partying in the streets, not only in Mexico, but anywhere Mexicans could be found.

And, of course, partying with Mexicans means a lot of singing.

And a lot of dancing too.

Not everyone was happy with Mexico’s victory, of course. Plenty of people had to accept it after rooting against them the entire tournament.

No one really likes Mondays, a win like this makes things a little better.

Panama reached the finals against Mexico after defeating the United States on penalty kicks last week. Many fútbol fans believed CONCACAF wanted the U.S. and Mexico to meet for the championship. But it ultimately went to Panama and Mexico, with the latter winning.
