Brazil is on its way to the quarterfinals of the 2022 World Cup after an impressive 4-1 win over South Korea on Monday (December 5). Besides the entire Brazilian squad, coaches and diehard fans, the happiest individual to see the team advance to the next round has to be Eigon Oliveira, a social media content creator who looks exactly like Brazil’s legendary forward Neymar.
Oliveira has been making his rounds in Qatar recently during the World Cup tournament and isn’t shy about pretending to be the fútbol star. He signs autographs, shakes hands, and takes photos with fans under the guise of being the real Neymar. It looks like Oliveira is sporting some of the same tattoos Neymar has, so there was definitely a lot of planning that went into preparing to be a Neymar impersonator.
According to CBS Sports, Oliveira travels with a friend who dresses like a member of the Brazilian soccer confederation to help maintain the celebrity illusion. Other friends pretend to be his security detail. Those friends were probably working extra hard recently when Oliveira showed up at a Puma store in the capital city of Doha and caused a frenzy.
There were so many people who believed Oliveira was Neymar, the store had to shut down temporarily and Oliveira had to be taken to the back of the retailer until things settled down. Oliveira is so good at what he does, he was even able to fake his way onto the field inside one of the World Cup stadiums.
“I never imagined this moment,” Oliveira wrote in a recent post online. “I’m blessed to have gotten this far with this job. I’m very thankful and I’m a fan of this guy who welcomes what I do with open arms. He changed my life in a gigantic way, giving me millions of possibilities and opportunities, and allowing me to go places and meet people that I would have never imagined going or meeting.”
