There are few worse feelings in sports than losing Game 7 of the World Series. To fall one game short of a championship after a grueling six-month season and three rounds of competitive playoff baseball is a heartbreak unique to peloteros. For Dodgers right-fielder Yasiel Puig, that feeling was compounded last night after learning that his house had been broken into during Game 7, which Los Angeles lost 5-1 in front of their home crowd at Dodgers Stadium.

According to CBS Los Angeles, an LAPD watch commander has confirmed that there is an ongoing burglary investigation for Puig’s Encino-area home. Reports state that a window was smashed at the house, which triggered an alarm that looks to have spooked the robbers. They were still able to make away with jewelry and other items from the Cuban outfielder’s home before leaving.

This isn’t Puig’s first encounter with burglars this year. In March, the mercurial Dodgers star had his Sherman Oaks crib broken into, losing an estimated $170,000 worth of jewelry in the process.

Puig had a resurgent year after being sent to the minors in 2016, hitting .263, with a career-high 28 home runs, 74 RBIs, and 15 stolen bases. He was even better in the playoffs, hitting .286 with 3 homers and 10 RBI’s across 15 games. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough, and his World Series heartbreak was immediately chased with the annoyance and unease of having his home broken into.
