Don Omar Offers Big Update On His Cancer Treatment

Yesterday (June 17), Don Omar revealed in an Instagram post that he was diagnosed with cancer. He added that he would fight the disease until he was rid of it. In the comments of his post, singers like  Franco “El Gorila,” Olga Tañón, and Sharlene Taulé shared their well wishes for Omar during his treatment. Daddy Yankee also shared a prayer in his Instagram stories for Omar’s recovery. “Pa’ lante guerrero!” he wrote.

This morning Omar provided an update on his cancer treatment. He revealed that he underwent surgery and that he is now cancer free. In his post on Instagram, Omar also shared a photo of himself holding up a peace sign.

“I woke up today cancer free and grateful,” he wrote. “Thank you for your well wishes, prayers, and thousands of messages. My surgery was a success. Now to recover.”

In the comments of Omar’s post, many artists cheered on the good news about his cancer treatment. “Let’s go champ! God is good!” Tito El Bambino wrote. “Amen brother,” Wisin added. Tañón wrote, “A new beginning of many more miracles! And moreover, you know what faith is!!!”

Before revealing his cancer diagnosis and now recovery, Don Omar was preparing for the second leg of his Back to the Reggaeton Tour. The first leg was a success after he put on sold-out concerts in arenas across the country. The tour marked his comeback to music after a decade away. He also contributed a song to the Back to the Reggaeton EP last year with Wisin y Yandel. 

The Back to Reggaeton Tour is scheduled to resume on August 7 in Oakland, CA.
