During a Cueca (a traditional dance in South America and the national dance in Chile) championship in Anadacollo, Chile on Friday, one dog became an international hero. As 17-year-old journalist Sebastián González interviewed a woman about her empanadas, a dog appeared on the right hand corner of the screen and stealthily stole an empanada right off the grill. Neither Sebastián nor the woman he interviewed realized, but when the clip made its way online, the internet sure did and quickly memed the moment.

After the dog became internet famous, Sebastián – who conducted the interview as part of a co-production between KuartaTV and El Anacollino – became determined to find and adopt the pup, according to Verne. He learned that the dog’s name is Orejón. And though Sebastián wants to take in Orejón, those living in the town also want to keep the famed pup. Here’s hoping he finds a loving home.
