Yesterday in NYC, families of the 43 Ayotzinapa students who disappeared in Mexico seven months ago marched to the UN alongside supporters as part of the global, participatory Inside Out Project. Helmed by famed French photographer JR, Inside Out encourages people to transform messages of personal identity into works of public art.

Nearly 200,000 people from more than 112 countries & territories have participated so far, inspiring group actions on varied themes such as hope, diversity, gender-based violence, climate change. And although tensions have subsided somewhat since the height of the massive social unrest that exploded throughout Mexico last fall, yesterday’s march served as a reminder that the movement is still very much alive.
