With Rogue One: A Star Wars Story telling the story of Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) and other freedom fighters’ plot to steal the plans to the Death Star, the franchise has once again put a strong female character at the forefront. While it’s exciting for Jyn/Felicity to lead the way in trailers and promotional materials, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want more intel about Diego Luna‘s Cassian Andor. Up to this point, Cassian has mostly remained in the background. Though we know he’ll serve as the squad’s dad, we don’t really know too much about him yet. But just today, Disney treated us to a minute-long featurette on Diego and his character.

“This character is the story I grew up with. It’s like I have been preparing my whole life for this,” Luna says at the top of the video, sounding like a real Star Wars head. The short video – which cuts in scenes from the actual movie – reveals the moment that Cassian decides to join Jyn’s team. Previous trailers have briefly shown him wearing an officer’s uniform for about a split second, but in this newly released footage, he’s wearing the suit as he makes his way through an Imperial ship.

As for the role, Luna explains that it’s pushed him in every possible way. “It’s challenging because one day you’re doing a very emotional scene, but the next day you’re beating some Stormtroopers,” he said. “It’s fun. It has a little bit of everything. We’re doing battles and running and chasing, and we’re just living the experience.”

Check out the short featurette below.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits US theaters on December 16, 2016. Tickets are already on sale.
