With fall underway, it’s likely you’ll reach for your bottle of Vivaporú, aka Vicks Vaporub, on more than one occasion. As cold season hits, many of us will find ourselves applying this ointment – long considered a cure-all within the Latino community – to our feet, foreheads, and noses.
But just owning a tub of Vicks isn’t enough for some of us. That’s why we scoured the internet to find seven goods that accurately reflect all our Vivaporú feelings:
1
Encapsulated Vaporub Soap
This is one of the first products Elena created for Bela Doce Apothecary, and it’s back by popular demand “The vaporub bar isa camphor and eucalyptus essential oil soap with actual vaporub encapsulated inside,” the product’s description reads. “Nothing is quite as comforting when you’re sick as that old familiar smell. Infuse your shower with mama’s reliable cold and flu cure!”

ViDAPORÚ Ointment
Merelis Catalina Ortiz created an all-natural version of Vivaporú. Despite how much we may love the product, it doesn’t contain the best of ingredients. (Read her post explaining it here.) Her version contains extra virgin olive oil, beeswax, eucalyptus globulus, peppermint, tea tree oil, rosemary, camphor, and clove bud.
