08001 is the zip code of Barcelona’s cosmopolitan neighborhood El Raval. It’s also the contrived name for an ambitious project born in that neighborhood but with members spread around the world.
Created by Catalan producer Julián Urigitia in 2002, this collective includes in its lineup former members of Barcelona’s mestizo flagship Ojos de Brujo and London’s Asian Dub Foundation, among many others. So you can kind of imagine the eclectic nature of their influences and styles.
No Pain No Gain is the title of their newest album and “Children Rise,” with vocals by Ghetto Priest and the beautiful Natasha Drum, is its first single available online. Good vibes.
