According to Security Footage, El Chapo’s Escape Was Chillest Prison Break Ever

Ever since Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzman’s escape from Altiplano Federal Prison, there’s been talk that the tunnel escape story was nothing more than a flimsy excuse to cover the fact that the drug lord potentially walked out of prison. On Tuesday, Mexican officials held a press conference specifically calling out the media, where they showed an unedited video of El Chapo’s cell before he escaped.

The security footage shows that El Chapo is super chill about it all, like more than I have ever been in my life. He paces around the cell, spends some time looking at the hole in his bathroom, and he even sits down in his bed to change shoes. When he returns to the bathroom, he finally decides to peace out. The camera that captured the footage was located inside his cell, but it had two blind spots so that he could have some privacy. But, seriously, someone should have probably been monitoring the footage all the time, because he’s already managed to escape prison once. El Chapo was wearing a security bracelet, which he also got rid of before breaking out, according to Mexican Interior Minister Miguel Ángel Osorio Chong. Footage of the tunnel shows that there was a bike waiting for him.
