Chiquis recently postponed one of her concerts for a heartbreaking reason. Over the weekend, the Mexican-American star revealed that she and her partner Emilio Sanchez experienced a miscarriage.

Last week, Chiquis, who is the daughter of late banda music legend Jenni Rivera, kicked off the U.S. leg of her Diamantes Tour. She successfully completed the first show on the tour on May 30 in El Cajon, CA.

Ahead of the second show in Albuquerque, NM, Chiquis posted an emotional video on Instagram about why she had to postpone the June 1 concert. She revealed that she had a miscarriage while preparing for the show. The post also included a picture of the parents smiling with a photo of the baby’s sonogram.

“With a heavy heart, I wanted to let you know that my concert postponement last night happened because of a medical emergency that made it impossible for me to take the stage, physically as well as emotionally,” Chiquis shared in her post. “While I was at the venue getting ready for the show I suffered a miscarriage. I had not announced my pregnancy as it was in an early stage.”

In May 2023, Chiquis announced that she was engaged to Sanchez, who is a photographer. The baby that they lost would’ve been their first child together. As Chiquis noted in her post, she and Sanchez were waiting for her pregnancy to move further along before announcing it. Sharing her story about her miscarriage has been met with comments of women sharing their own personal experiences and sending Chiquis their condolences. Sanchez also mourned their loss by posting the emojis of a baby angel with a broken heart in his Instagram stories.

Chiquis will resume her Diamantes Tour in Hidalgo, TX on June 7. On May 30, she released her latest album, which is also called Diamantes
