A massive effort for funds and supplies is being put together for those affected by a fire that ripped through an apartment building in the Bronx over the weekend.

A space heater is said to be the start of the Twin Parks Fire that left 17 people dead, eight of which were children, and another 60 people injured. The fire is being called the deadliest in New York City in over three decades. Today, both local and national relief groups are coming to the aid of those in need.

National organizations like the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army are offering help. For those needing assistance, or those wanting to offer donations to the American Red Cross, you can call  1-877-RED CROSS (1-877-733-2767).

The New York Division of the Salvation Army has set up a specific Bronx Fire Relief Fund. Making a contribution is as easy as sending a text. To do that, text the word “bronxfire” (one word) to 41444.

Locally, there are multiple efforts being put into relief. The community group helpNYC Disaster Relief Response has activated a space on their website for those in need and those wanting to help those affected by the Twin Parks Fire

Mayor Eric Adams and  The Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City has created the Bronx Fire Relief Fund online. “This is a painful moment but also a purposeful one. The tragedy in the Bronx is a reminder that we are one New York and we will always come together for our neighbors,” Mayor Adams said in a post on social media.

Vamos Forward, a platform dedicated to showing the advancement and perseverance of the Latine community, has partnered up with Congressmember Ritchie Torres and Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson to take donations as well.

Additionally, the Nonprofit Gambian Youth Organization is offering its assistance. The GYO has set up a Gofundme account for those affected by the Twin Parks Fire. They are also accepting donations on-site in their center located in the Bronx. Items like clothing, toiletries, and housewares are needed.
