This 6-Year-Old’s Selena Party Will Put All Your Parties to Shame

At just 6 years old, Texan Ayvah Vega is probably a bigger Selena fan than you. After watching a YouTube video of a Selena performance at the beginning of the school year, she became the Queen of Tejano’s No. 1 fan. “For two months straight, her alarm was ‘Bidi Bidi Bom Bom,’” Ayvah’s dad, Alex, told My San Antonio. “We introduced her to the movie and she’s probably watched it 100 times – if it’s not being played in the house, it’s being played in the car.”

So when it came time for her birthday, her dad and mom, Belinda, decided to Selena-fy her day. Spending at least $500, Belinda and Alex got Ayvah a mini stage, a piñata in the late singer’s likeness, and a rose-embellished cake adorned with a Selena topper.

Ayvah wore a custom replica of the late star’s famous purple jumpsuit. Her dad wore an “Anything for Selenas tee.” The attendees learned the “washing machine” dance. Not every guest was a Selena fan – as a matter of fact, some didn’t even know who she was. But at the end of the party, everyone walked away understanding what made Selena so special.

Even before joining the Selena fandom, Ayvah has loved to perform. She’s taking dance, singing, cheerleading, and gymnastics classes. “Our little girl has always been a performer since the age of 2, she’s always dancing and singing for us,” Alex said. “There’s just something about (Ayvah), when you put her on stage, she just switches.”
