Unless our eyes are deceiving us, it looks like Cardi B recently got a new tattoo — this time on her face.

During an Instagram Live video on Sunday (August 14), the “WAP” rapper was seen lying on a table while a tattoo artist made a mark on her cheek near her jawline in red ink. It is currently unknown what the tattoo is or its significance, but it looks like it might be lettering based on the video and a photo she took with her tattooist after the deed was done.

There were mixed reactions from her fans on social media when the video hit online. Many of her followers were fine with Cardi B getting a new tattoo but wondered why she had to choose her face of all places to put it. “Not on the faceeee,” one Twitter user wrote.

Others took issue with everyone complaining about what she does with her own body. “And y’all judging her ain’t making no damn difference it’s her body let her be great,” someone else tweeted.

Some believed that the tattoo was a sign that new music would soon be coming from the Grammy Award-winning artist. “Oh, it’s about to go down,” one tweet read. “Anytime Cardi gets a piercing or a tattoo, we getting music. Get your coins ready. My sis releasing stress.”

According to Saved Tattoo, many tattoo artists avoid using red ink because it contains a lot of harmful ingredients that can be toxic to the body. Earlier this year, the European Union banned colored tattoo ink because their researcher found it can cause “cancer or genetic mutations.”
