It looks like Cardi B, unfortunately, bit off a little bit more than she could chew. According to Deadline, the superstar rapper has allegedly dropped out of her lead role in the comedy feature Assisted Living. With her out, the studio decided to drop the entire movie – at least temporarily.

Deadline is reporting that the reason for Cardi B’s decision to pull out of the movie is that she has “overextended” herself. The outlet is also speculating that legal action could be taken against Cardi because production on the movie was supposed to start next week.

In Assisted Living, Cardi B was supposed to play a low-level criminal who hides out in her grandmother’s retirement home after she is accused of a crime she didn’t commit. She blends in with the residents of the home by dressing like an old lady and wearing prosthetics. Mrs. Doubtfire meets Sister Act, anyone?

The comedy would’ve marked Cardi B’s third film. She first appeared in a small role as a New York City stripper in the 2019 film Hustlers. She was then featured in the 2021 action sequel F9 as Leysa, an old friend of Vin Diesel’s character Dom Toretto.

Cardi B definitely has a lot on her plate, but at face value, it doesn’t seem fair that she made this decision so late in the game. It’s important to not overextend oneself but also to think about the cast and crew who thought they were going to be working next week and now find themselves unemployed for the time being.
