Don’t let Rachel Zegler’s innocent look fool you. She’s got something up her sleeve in the upcoming superhero sequel Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and it just might be the dagger she’s wielding in the new international poster for the movie.
In the sequel, Zegler plays Anthea, one of the three powerful daughters of Atlas, the Greek God of War. Anthea, along with her older sisters Hespera (Helen Mirren) and Kalypso (Lucy Liu), is after the film’s title hero to take back the power they believe he stole from their father.
“Come see if I use this dagger at any point in the film – only in theaters,” Zegler wrote on social media when she posted an image of the poster.
The poster features Zelger’s Anthea wearing gold armor and carrying a large dagger in her right hand. Besides the armor, Anthea is sporting knee-high steel boots, a golden cape, and a modest crown. Behind her is a ray of light shaped like a lightning bolt. In the first trailer for the movie, which premiered last summer, audiences got a quick glimpse at some of the powers that Anthea possesses in the palms of her hands.
Some other Latina celebrities who commented on the new poster on Instagram include actress Ana Villafañe (New Amsterdam), TikTok star Sol Carlos, and actress Sasha Calle (Supergirl in The Flash), who wrote, “That’s right!”
In a follow-up post, Zegler shared a photo of herself smiling under a Shazam! advertisement in New York City’s Time Square.
Shazam! Fury of the Gods premieres at theaters on March 17, 2023.
