The iconic entertainers are joining the Lopez family to play up the spiritual superstitions that are alive and well in the Latine community.
Moreno is joining the cast to play Dolores, George Lopez’s dead grandmother. Her spirit is returning to make sure that George does right by her one way or another. According to NBC, Dolores has two ways to make sure that George does what he is supposed to do with her chancla and razor-sharp tongue.
Cheech Marin joins the cast playing Carlos, the curandero invited to help rid George and Mayan, George’s biological daughter, of the familial spirit plaguing them. Carlos is a modern take on a traditional spiritual figure in Latine culture. Not only can he detect and get rid of spirits, but Carlos also takes bitcoin to make his spiritual cleansing work a reality.
Other special guests appearing on the show are the original cast members of George Lopez. Constance Marie, Belita Moreno, Valente Rodriguez, and Luis Garcia are coming back as the distant relatives of George’s ex-wife Rosie, played by Selenis Leyva.
