Add Sharon Stone to a list that already consists of Pedro Pascal, Jesse Eisenberg, and Margot Robbie. The Academy Award-nominated actress will join the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) as a villain in the upcoming film Blue Beetle, which stars Xolo Maridueña (Cobra Kai) in the title role.

Directed by Angel Manuel SotoBlue Beetle, DC’s first film to feature a Latine superhero in the lead role, follows Jaime Reyes, a teen who finds a mystical artifact that gives him superpowers.

Not much is known about Stone’s character, but The Wrap reveals that her name is Victoria Kord and that she is a new character in the Blue Beetle storyline and will serve as one of the film’s antagonists.

Although this is Stone’s first foray into the DCEU, this isn’t her first DC film. She starred alongside Halle Berry in the critically-panned 2004 superhero movie Catwoman, which went on to “win” four Razzie Awards that year, including for Worst Picture and Worst Actress. Stone picked up a Worst Supporting Actress nomination, too.

Along with Stone, Blue Beetle also recently announced the casting of actor Raoul Max Trujillo (Mayans M.C.), who will play the character Carapax the Indestructible Man. Trujillo’s ethnicity consists of roots from the Mexican state of Tlaxcala. He joins several other Latine talent, including George Lopez (No Man’s Land), Adriana Barraza (Babel), Elpidia Carrillo (Predator), Damián Alcázar (The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian). Harvey Guillén (What We Do in the Shadows), Bruna Marquezine (Breaking Through), and Belissa Escobedo (The Baker and the Beauty).

Blue Beetle will premiere in theaters on August 18, 2023.
