Mexico became the butt of jokes Saturday night as the national team took its heaviest L ever at the hands of Chile at the Copa América Centenario quarterfinals. The 7-0 blowout made for uncomfortable viewing, and it truthfully could have been worse. Chile is a great team and deserves a lot of credit, but Mexican fans were displeased by the apparent lack of fight and desire from the players. The fans didn’t have the best day either, as they drew criticism for turning on the team and using the “eh puto” chant toward goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, who did his best even when his defenders repeatedly let him down.
