Summer may have come to a close, but Cardi B, J Balvin and Bad Bunny are still cashing in on the success of their warm-weather hit “I Like It.”
The American Music Awards announced today that Balvin and Bad Bunny will join the Bronx-born rapper on stage to perform “I Like It” during the ceremony on October 9. As Billboard reports, the appearance marks Cardi’s first televised awards show performance since she took a break over the summer to focus on her newborn daughter Kulture Kiari Cephus.
The trio first performed the bilingual track – which samples Pete Rodriguez’s 1967 boogaloo classic “I Like It Like That” – back in April at Coachella. That performance, along with Beyoncé’s “Mi Gente” link-up with Balvin, marked the first time a reggaeton artist took the Coachella stage. “I Like It” has continued to spark debate about Spanish-speaking artists’ resurgence in the mainstream Anglo music industry.
The ceremony airs on October 9 at 8:00 p.m EST on ABC, with host Tracee Ellis Ross. According to Billboard, Cardi is nominated for eight AMAs this year, while Balvin is nominated for favorite Latino artist.
