Cardi B slides into the top spot of Billboard’s Hot 100 chart this week. Her collaboration “WAP” with fellow rap star Megan Thee Stallion opened at No. 1 on the chart.

With “WAP,” the Dominican-American rapper collects her fourth Billboard Hot 100 No. 1. The first time she reached the summit of the chart was in 2017 with “Bodak Yellow.” A year later, she revisited No. 1 twice; first with “I Like It,” featuring reggaetoneros J Balvin and Bad Bunny and second as a featured artist on Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You” remix. With “WAP,” Cardi became the first female rapper to hit the top spot of the chart in two different decades.

“WAP” marks Megan Thee Stallion’s second Hot 100 chart-topper. In May, the Beyoncé remix of her viral TikTok hit “Savage” climbed to the No. 1 spot. “WAP” is Cardi and Megan’s first song to debut in the pole position of the chart.

The music video for “WAP” made several headlines when it was released earlier this month. Namely, the hallway scene with Keeping Up with the Kardashians star Kylie Jenner captured global attention. Spanish singer-songwriter Rosalía also appears in the lavish clip.

“WAP” joins the high number of female collaborations this year that have topped the Hot 100 chart. Along with the aforementioned “Savage” remix, Doja Cat’s “Say So” remix with Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s “Rain On Me” also reached No. 1 on the chart. Women in music are doing it for themselves.
