Chayanne will be honored at the Billboard Latin Music Awards with the Icon Award on Thursday, Sept. 29. The Puerto Rican superstar will also be performing at the event.

Chayanne will receive the honorary award for his four decades of hits. Since launching his music career in the ‘80s, the singer has had 25 songs top various Billboard Latin genre charts. Nine of those tracks have hit No. 1 on the Hot Latin Songs chart. With 29 top 10 hits on the Hot Latin Songs chart, he’s in third place among men with the most top 10 hits on the chart. Chayanne has sold 50 million albums worldwide.

The “Torero” singer will also perform at the Billboard Latin Music Awards. He returned to music in June with the release of his single “Te Amo y Punto.” Chayanne co-wrote the heartfelt ballad with current Latine hit-makers Édgar Barrera, Richi López, and Elena Rose, who recently signed a record contract with Warner Music Latina. The beachside music video has amassed over five million views on YouTube.

“This song was the creation of a great group of professionals and based on the noblest feeling in life: love,” Chayanne said in a statement. “I always want to remind people that despite the speed at which we live today and that above any priority, love is the greatest of feelings and will always fill our souls. This is the first song on my new album, and I hope people will receive it with the same enthusiasm and respect with which I recorded it. The track is a sample of the great work that we will show little by little.”

Chayanne will also appear at Billboard Latin Music Week in Miami from Sept. 26 to Oct. 1. He will speak at the Billboard Icon Q&A on Sept. 28. The Billboard Latin Music Awards will air Sept. 29 live from Coral Gables on Telemundo.
