Cardi B knows the world is waiting on her next album. Last night (Dec. 13), the Dominican-American superstar gifted her fans with a taste of new music by sharing a snippet of an unreleased song.

Practically every day, Cardi B is fielding questions on social media about when the world can expect her second album. Her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, was released in 2018. That LP featured the Billboard No. 1 hits like “Bodak Yellow” and “I Like It” alongside J Balvin and Bad Bunny. While a new album never arrived this past year, Cardi B did release “Hot S**t” featuring Kanye West and Lil Durk.

While presumably being tweeted by fans about when the next album is coming, Cardi B responded yesterday with new music. She posted a seven-second snippet of a song to Twitter. “HERE some scraps since yall STARVING,” she wrote in her post.

Though the track preview is very short, Cardi B spits a few bars in those few seconds. “They be watchin’ every time that I post (that I post)/ Posted nothin’, always gotta do the most/ B—-es sound like you broke,” she raps. About why she chose to leak that song preview, she revealed that it won’t appear on her next album. “I just don’t love it,” she wrote to a fan on Twitter.

On Twitter, fans were ecstatic about the preview of new music that Cardi B gave them as an early Christmas present. Though the full song most likely won’t see the light of day, one fan had a suggestion for a mixtape. “Your ‘scraps’ always sound so good put them all on a mixtape or something!” they wrote. Another member of the Bardi Gang suggested that Cardi B go the SoundCloud route with her leftover songs. “Release all ur scrapped music on soundcloud plzzz,” they wrote.

Cardi B’s second album is expected to drop sometime next year.
