El Rey de la Bachata had quite the rewarding weekend. After taking home a Latin AMA (in a champagne pink suit, no less), Romeo Santos arrived in his hometown of New York City to accept four Guinness World Record titles during an official certification ceremony. These titles mark the first Guinness World Records he has achieved as both a solo artist and as a former member of Aventura.

On Friday, the Bronx-born bachatero accepted a Guinness World Record for Aventura’s record number of years spent with a No. 1 album on the Billboard Tropical Albums year-end chart. Santos also accomplished the same feat on his own, and received another Guinness World Record certificate for most years with a No. 1 album on the Billboard Tropical Albums end-of-year chart as a solo artist. He personally clocked in at five years on top, during 2012, 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2018 respectively.

His other Guinness World Records awarded this weekend included one for most year-end, best-selling albums on the tropical albums chart by a solo artist. This record took nearly a decade to cement, with albums like 2012’s Formula: Vol. 1, 2014’s Formula: Vol. 2, and 2017’s Golden responsible for Santos’ success. And thanks to Formula: Vol. 2, Santos also earned his fourth world record for its featured single, “Propuesta Indecente.” The track remained on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart for the most consecutive weeks ever, at a whopping 125 weeks in total.

During the ceremony, adjudicator Ralph Hannah expressed the organization’s excitement in honoring Romeo. “At Guinness World Records, we recognize all sorts of amazing achievements,” Hannah said, “Today we are thrilled to honor one of the most iconic bachata singer, songwriter, and record producer. Santos, welcome to the family!” Iconic, indeed. Congrats to the bachatero who’s been stealing hearts since the year 2000!
