Snoop Dogg is a man who knows life’s simple pleasures: a potent gin and juice, a banda classic, a fat blunt. The iconoclastic rapper reminded us of his love for regional Mexican a few days ago, when he sparked up in Atlanta on a rainy day and blasted Jenni Rivera’s “Envuélvete” on Instagram. It’s clear the track hits Snoop hard, as he melodramatically mouths the lyrics “Tú otra vez” in between tokes, and stares into the camera with a pained look on his face. La Diva de la Banda would be proud.

Snoop is a longtime banda fan, likely the fruit of his upbringing in Long Beach. After the Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Chicago Cubs 5-0 in the playoffs last fall, the rapper posted a melancholy video on Instagram in which he dedicated La Banda MS’ “Tengo que colgar” to Dodgers fans.

It’s 2017, and as we descend into a fascist inferno, this is a reminder anything can happen – a Martha Stewart-Snoop Dogg cooking show, a Justin Bieber-Luis Fonsi collab, and even Snoop becoming America’s no. 1 banda fan.
