Kali Uchis’ pristine music videos have added a bold new dimension to the Colombian artist’s sugary R&B sound. Uchis’ visual style has a reputation for being meticulous and immaculate, often drawing on retro aesthetics, pastel color palettes, and vintage looks.

Her latest music video takes a new visual direction, combining jewel-toned neon hues with 80s-style big hair and shoulder pads. Directed by Helmi and filmed in Paris, the “Tyrant” clip finds Kali posing in a whip, slaying on the set of a photo shoot, and laying out on a bright green turf with featured artist Jorja Smith.

“Tyrant” is the first single from Uchis’ forthcoming debut album, a featherlight dancehall collab with Uchis’ breathy coos punctuating the track.

In May, Uchis premiered the single on Beats 1 and teased collabs with Tame Impala and funk legend Bootsy Collins in an interview with host Zane Lowe.

Keep an eye out for the release date soon. Uchis has also announced a batch of tour dates, with tickets on sale this Friday, June 23. Check the dates below.
