This Woman’s Amateur Sketch Of Her Stolen Car Turned Into the Best Internet Joke this Week

When Zaira Salazar’s truck was stolen from Hermosillo, Sonora, she turned to the Internet for help. While she didn’t have an image of the truck, she decided to tap into her own artistic skills to sketch the 1991 Nissan pickup truck, except it ended up being far from realistic, according to CNN En Español.

Her message was posted on the OfertasBeta Facebook page, but the drawing was so basic that Jorge Luis Aguiñiga, who runs the page, almost didn’t post it. “I decided to leave it because it’s common for people to take to the group to report stolen vehicles…,” he said. “I never imagined that it would turn into a meme. When I saw the post again, I saw several comments with the woman’s drawing.”

Because the Internet is creative and loves mischief, her car started showing up everywhere.

The car was found, so Salazar’s drawing did work. But then, Salazar was impossible to track down, because she ghosted after all the attention she received from the viral drawing. Eventually they tracked her down, and since her car’s battery had been stolen, EatSalad donated one to make the car run again.

Now, Chevrolet is offering to give her a brand new car if their post reaches 1 million likes, which seems kinda sus (was the car ever stolen?). Otherwise, it’s fucked up if they are dangling a car in front of her that she may never get.
