What comes to mind when you think of Jennifer Lopez? For me, it’s a tweet that reads, “Me at 26: I don’t have the energy to celebrate my bday at a club” paired with “JLo at 50” with a video of the singer-actress partying at her 50th birthday. Relatable doesn’t even begin to cut it. A perhaps not-so-relatable detail about the Bronx native is the fact that she’s had what seems to be one of her best years yet. The good news is there’s still a little more than a month to go, and she’s far from done winning. On Wednesday, Coach announced that the Puerto Rican superstar is the new face of the brand.

The leather goods brand has had artists like Selena Gomez and Yara Shahidi grace their campaigns in the recent past. Now, Coach is honored to have Lopez on board.

“Jennifer is so authentic. She’s determined and she’s an original who has followed her own path to do things her own way,” Coach’s creative director Stuart Vevers shared in a statement to People. “She’s from New York like Coach, which creates another authentic connection with our heritage.”

When word came out that the Hustlers actress was in New York, I assumed it was because she was coming to personally deliver Remezcla’s wedding invitation or go to Central Park with her fiancée Alex Rodriguez. Neither was true. The “All I Have” singer apparently got right to work this week. She was pictured taking photos for the spring 2020 campaign atop the Empire State Building. What else will the year of J. Lo bring us?
