It’s been 25 years since the Looney Tunes teamed up with an NBA superstar on the big screen. The original Space Jam hit theaters in 1996 and featured Michael Jordan. Now, LeBron James takes center court in the animated sequel Space JamA New Legacy.

If it were up to comedian and actor Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, fans wouldn’t have to wait another two and a half decades to get another Space Jam movie. Iglesias, who voices Speedy Gonzáles in the new film, would be interested in seeing “the Fastest Mouse in All [of] Mexico” team up with Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker, who has Mexican roots, for another Space Jam sequel.

“If given the opportunity, I’d be all over it,” Iglesias told Remezcla during a recent interview. “If there’s a chance that we can do something bigger with Speedy Gonzáles … and they wanna talk, I’d be happy to talk.”

In Space JamA New Legacy, Speedy and the rest of the Looney Tunes join forces with Los Angeles Lakers forward James. They work together to bring his son Dominic (Cedric Joe) home after being transported into a virtual world operated by an evil algorithm (Don Cheadle). The only way to save Dominic is if James and the Tunes, including Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig, and Lola Bunny, beat the all-new Goon Squad.

Speedy makes his first appearance in the movie alongside Granny (Candi Milo) in a Looney Tunes’ remix of The Matrix. In this scene, Granny takes the role of Trinity while Speedy plays Neo and dodges bullets. During the movie, he also, of course, says his most famous catchphrase, “¡Arriba, arriba, ándale!”

“[The catchphrase] is actually just gibberish,” Iglesias said. “It’s just noise for him to start moving and for the little cloud of smoke to appear behind him. It’s like back in the day [on] I Love Lucy when Ricky Ricardo would get upset and start going off in Spanish. A lot of it made no sense, but it was just funny.”

Space JamA New Legacy is in theaters and HBO Max.
